Hydrogeology

Caulmert’s staff have extensive experience in undertaking a wide range of hydrogeological services in water management and related disciplines. We have practical experience a range of services from the assessment of water resources for abstractions to specialised contaminant transport modelling. Our clients span Local Authorities to waste management contractors and private developers. Caulmert have a multidisciplinary team which enables us to offer the following services:

Groundwater Abstraction and Licensing Applications;

We advise and undertake water feature surveys. borehole design and installation, pumping trials and submission of abstraction license applications;

Aquifer Properties Assessments:

Comprising pumping trials, falling head tests, rising head tests, analysis and reporting;

Design and Implementation of Groundwater Monitoring Systems:

Including subversion of construction, sampling, field analysis and reporting;

Hydrogeological Investigations:

Design and supervision of borehole construction, field analysis, soil and rock sampling, groundwater sampling and field measurements, assessment of water quality and reporting;

Pumping Trials:

Short duration or prolonged pumping trials to assess potential water resources;

Contaminant Transport Modelling:

We use a variety of software modelling packages to assess the impact and environmental fate of contaminants released to the groundwater environment. The modelling package is selected to meet the conceptual model and the project requirements, for example, P20 for the derivation of remedial targets

Groundwater Risk Assessments:

Undertaken for waste management facilities and contaminated land projects where there has been or is the potential for a release of contaminants into the groundwater environment;

Hydrogeological Risk Assessment Reviews:

Completion of reviews of the environmental monitoring data and conceptual model behind the risk assessments as part of the requirements of waste management permits;

Derivation of Trigger Levels:

Assessment of groundwater quality data and compliance assessments and audits;

Quarterly and Annual Monitoring Reports:

this includes the assessment of background concentrations, interpretation of geochemical data and identification of any impacts.
