The development of Anaerobic Digestion is fundamental to the UK achieving both its renewable energy targets and a carbon free future. At a cost of just £5 billion and with the potential to produce £1.7 billion worth of gas each year at today’s prices developing Anaerobic Digestion would be a valuable investment. However currently there are a number of barriers to the industry’s growth.
The value of Anaerobic Digestion is not properly or widely understood, there is an absence of training and regulation standards, industry data is underdeveloped and it is difficult to secure finance. ADBA has been created to remove these barriers and facilitate the industry’s growth with the aim of building 1000 plants by 2020. Caulmert are proud to be a member of ADBA and will look for their support to make sure this potential is achieved.
