A leading UK Waste Management Company has appointed Caulmert to provide permitting assistance for a proposed new Anaerobic Digestion Plant to be constructed in the south west of England
The plant will accept up to 15,000 tonnes of food and other organic waste per year which will be digested to produce approximately 0.5 MW of electricity for export to the national grid.
The AD plant will be located on a site already holding a permit for a waste transfer station and this permit will be varied to cover the AD plant. To that end Caulmert has been asked to prepare a H1 environmental risk assessment to form part of the EP variation application. As odour is considered to be a critical factor in the determination, an assessment in accordance with the guidance H4 on Odour Management will also be carried out.
