Caulmert were appointed in 2012 to undertake an Environmental Impact Assessment of a proposal in Wales to redevelop a former limestone quarry as a holiday lodge park offering 60 units of luxury accommodation around a lakeside setting.
The site offered challenging environmental constraints, including a population of great crested newts, a public right of way and a sensitive ecological setting in terms of European statutory designations. Caulmert addressed these impacts, along with several environmental topics including Welsh Language Impact, concluding that the proposals would have an overall positive impact. Environmental impacts could be satisfactorily mitigated and the proposals offered benefits in terms of local employment and reclamation of a derelict and despoiled site.
