Caulmert recently attended the ‘Institution of Structural Engineers’ (IStructE) headquarters in London as part of the ‘BIM Conference for Structural Engineers 2013’. The day comprised of presentations by key stakeholders within the industry and structural engineering profession along with open discussions between engineering consultants.
The content of the presentations included views from the Cabinet Office, BIM4SMEs, Legal perspective, existing users as well as software technology providers.
Clearly the driving force of the Cabinet Office/ Government, behind the implementation of BIM, is making the structural engineering profession take note of the requirements and introduce Level 2 BIM on all government projects by 2016.
