Caulmert has been appointed as Civil & Structural Design Consultants by McCarthy & Stone for the £6m Longpool retirement scheme in Kendal.
Initial plans propose to redevelop the former Longpool Porsche dealership site on Shap Lane to create 55 Retirement Living apartments, landscaped gardens and on-site car parking.
The apartments will be exclusively available for the over 60’s and will offer social communal spaces, including a residents lounge, landscaped internal courtyard and reading rooms overlooking Kendal cricket club.
Detailed plans are being developed ahead of a full planning application in November 2021.
Caulmert was appointed through McCarthy & Stone’s Civil & Structural framework and will advise on the demolition of the existing building, enabling site works and build which is expected to start in 2022 and complete by Spring 2023.
Caulmert Business Development Director, Chris Gooch-Butler said “We have provided technical advice to Mccarthy & Stone for several retirement village projects. The developments are of an incredibly high standard and provide a safe and secure environment for residents to live an active, independent life. We look forward to supporting the team during the planning process and to working with the on-site build team, in what we hope, will be the near future.”
