The managing director and founder of Caulmert has shared insight into the company’s plans to bolster service offerings after recording its highest ever turnover.
Mike Caulfield spoke to Wales Business Insider about the consultancy, which achieved a 20 per cent increase in revenue, standing at £3.86 million.
The magazine feature titled “North Wales Regional Review” shone a spotlight on several businesses which have benefited from being based in the area.
Mike, who co-founded the firm 15 years ago, said: “With roots firmly in Bangor, where our head office is located, it was a no-brainer to comment on the region’s positive impact when growing a business.
“Caulmert’s anniversary is a special one and it has certainly made me look back on our inception and compare it to where we are today, accompanied by a strong team of nearly 50 and a roster of loyal clients.
“With an additional office in St Asaph, we’ve benefitted from fantastic training and grants through Welsh government, which has played an integral role in upskilling our employees, alongside our own internal efforts.”
Mike covered plans to introduce environmental impact assessments and recruit the required expertise to roll out the new service, which is currently outsourced.
Caulmert will also expand its town planning and highways divisions and appoint candidates who can help lead the development of the teams.
Mike, who is a Fellow of the Institute of Directors, continued: “The sector in which we work has an ever-changing landscape, where there is more demand for consultancies to be a ‘one-stop shop’ for multiple services.
“I’m thrilled that we’re being proactive as a business by listening to our clients and the industry. It’s clear we’ve got an opportunity to further strengthen the offering in our environmental, engineering, and planning divisions.”
Founded in 2008, Caulmert is on track to meet an ambitious growth and development plan.
Its expertise in a variety of planning, environmental and engineering disciplines is supported by its use of BIM to a level two standard in many of its projects.
