Caulmert has been successful in obtaining planning permission for Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water for a new pumping station at Red Wharf Bay, Anglesey. The new station will enable properties in the area who currently rely on septic tanks and cess pools to connect to the mains sewers, offering significant amenity and environmental improvement for the community.
As part of the proposed works a new sewer pipe and associated underground infrastructure will be laid in the vicinity of the site, with the foul waste from the properties being transferred to the proposed pumping station and then to the existing Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water network where it will be treated at Benllech Waste Water Treatment Works.
Caulmert worked with Arcadis from inception thorough to determination of the planning application, successfully navigating a complex balance between infrastructure necessity and environmental sensitivity. Managing a greenfield development within the Anglesey National Landscape (formerly AONB) near ecologically designated sites requires a high level of precision, especially when coordinating an EIA Screening to demonstrate that the proposed development is unlikely to have significant environmental effects. To mitigate visual and landscape impact, infrastructure was positioned sensitively and integrated with a comprehensive landscaping scheme.
Contractors Alun Griffiths will be constructing the project, and once constructed customers will be able to apply to connect to the sewerage system.
