A passion for engineering and a desire to be both inspired and motivated means Paul Fleming has arrived at Caulmert with a spring in his step.
The consultancy’s new associate director of structures has more than 25 years of experience across a wide range of sectors, including residential, industrial, commercial, and infrastructure.
With technical expertise in structural and civil engineering, as well as a strong track record of leadership and innovation, Paul has hit the ground running since starting at Caulmert’s Altrincham towards the end of April.
He said: “I was craving a role that involved hands-on engineering at the detail stage of projects.
“The problem solving and technical aspects of schemes was missing in recent times, so to be able to return to that with Caulmert is great.
“Already, the variety of my workload from residential homes and an industrial warehouse to the design of a substation within a busy city centre has helped me settle in, keep me on my toes and continue learning.
“I enjoy the challenges different projects present and I’m relishing the future in consultancy with Caulmert.”
Having worked in Altrincham, and with his home in Cheshire, Paul had kept a close eye on Caulmert’s growth since they came to his attention around four years ago.
He continued: “You quickly learn who is active in certain regions and Caulmert was a company I took notice of.
“From that point, it was a case of keeping tabs on what they were doing in terms of schemes and the sectors in which they operated.
“Once I knew I wanted a more hands-on engineering consultancy role again, I had Caulmert in mind.”
David Else, director of structural engineering at Caulmert, was pleased to welcome someone with Paul’s skillset into his team.
He said: “It’s clear from speaking with Paul that he thrives on being comprehensively involved in projects and his vast experience will only benefit delivery.
“Whilst having a fantastic background in several sectors, he’s still eager to learn and develop, and that attitude is infectious.
“We are thrilled to have him as part of the Caulmert team.”
Founded in 2008, Caulmert is on track to meet an ambitious growth and development plan.
Its expertise in a variety of engineering, environmental, planning, and project management disciplines is supported by its use of Building Information Modelling (BIM) to ISO 19650 standard on many of its projects.
