Caulmert were delighted to support an evening seminar at Bangor’s University Management Centre held on 14th March 2013, hosted jointly by the Institute of Directors (IoD) North Wales Branch and the North Wales Business Club.
The seminar topic was “Energy” and included a distinguished panel of experts:
Andy Billcliffe – Head of Hydro (UK) RWE npower renewables
David Harries – Head of Renewables & Litigation Partner, Aaron & Partners
Tracey Williams – Installations Director, Green Deal Shop.com
Jim O’Toole – Managing Director, Port of Mostyn
The seminar was facilitated by Robert Lloyd Griffiths, Director, IoD Wales and focused on the issues surrounding the renewable energy sector in Wales including on shore and off shore wind generation, hydro power, anaerobic digestion and issues implementing the Green Deal initiative.
A question and answer session with the panel and a captive audience from low-carbon and renewables businesses, investors and advisors discussed the big challenges including funding of the region’s renewable energy sector, legislation, opportunities for SME’s and the hurdles to overcome, not least in planning and regulation. The expectation is that the new single body, Natural Resources Wales will bring a more positive climate for renewable energy projects in terms of regulation of development.
