Caulmert’s has strengthened its decade-long relationship with Woodford Recycling by undertaking some key environmental activity.
The engineering, environmental, and planning consultancy has been working with the Cambridgeshire-based waste management business since 2009.
During those 14 years, Caulmert has carried out activity including hydrogeological risk assessment reviews and WM3 waste screenings, as well as completing annual landfill and pollution inventory reports.
Further developing the connection with Woodford Recycling, the North Wales-headquartered company has helped install perimeter-monitoring boreholes on the location’s boundary to improve efficiency and demonstrate compliance.
A construction quality assurance (CQA) engineer from the consultancy attended site full-time to oversee the works and help ensure everything was running smoothly.
Activity required the consultancy to submit CQA plans to the Environment Agency, which received validation reports once the necessary drilling had been completed.
A permit variation application has been prepared by Caulmert to refine the on-site monitoring requirements, which includes updates to hydrogeological risk assessments and gas reviews in line with industry code of practice.
The consultancy also supervised the installation of a leachate abstraction system, comprising several freshly fitted or updated leachate wells with solar pumps, and a leachate storage tank.
The company’s senior hydrogeologist Alice Daly said: “Our relationship with Woodford Recycling stretches back to before my time with Caulmert, so we are thrilled to undertake this work.
“Creating strong connections with clients is important to us, and the fact that this one is close to 15 years long suggests that the activity we are carrying out is of a high standard.
“We look forward to completing the company’s annual reporting early in 2024.”
