Caulmert are delighted to be appointed by RWE Npower to provide professional engineering services during the construction of the next phase of the cell works to facilitate the continued deposition operation of pulverised fuel ash.
The pulverised fuel ash is being used in the land reclamation scheme at the quarry adjacent to the power station. The design of the reclamation scheme includes re-grading of the quarry sidewalls with ‘Class 6F1; Rock fill’, the installation of a 500mm thick (Class 6C; crushed limestone) groundwater drainage layer with an integral blinding layer, the installation of a specified separation geotextile as well as the construction of the 750mm thick engineered shale mix mineral barrier.
Caulmert’s engineer will provide a site presence for the duration of the contract works and will undertake the testing and recording/reporting of the constructions works necessary to meet all the requirements of the approved Specification and Construction Quality Assurance Plan.
