Caulmert Limited were appointed on behalf of Viridor Waste Management Limited
The project comprised the design, procurement, manufacture, assembly, installation, testing and commissioning of an early warning fire detection and suppression system together with all associated infrastructure works.
Site works involved the construction of a reinforced concrete slab complete with piled foundations, drainage installation, reforming of an earth embankment and provision of retaining wall; and the installation of the Helios fire suppression system including 100 cubic litre water storage vessel, technical container, pipework, water cannons, cameras, power supply, fibre optic connections and other associated control infrastructure.
The project was procured as 2 separate commissions, with Principal Contractor duties being split for each element. The project sequencing enabled production downtime and the impact on the business to be minimised whilst also allowing 2 separate procured Contractors to work within the confined site without incident
Caulmert provided project and contract management services from initiation to completion, civils design, client liaison, contractor procurement, contract (NEC3 Short Form) preparation and administration, value engineering, stakeholder management and site supervision. The project was delivered ahead of time and within budget.
