Caulmert Limited have provided Civil, Structural and Geotechnical Engineering services for several significant projects for higher education provider Grŵp Llandrillo-Menai on a number of their campus sites in North Wales.
The new Engineering and Renewables Technologies Centre in Rhyl is a £12m project and is being provided to support the Student & Apprentices Training partnership between the College and key employer RWE, Wales’ largest power producer and number one renewable energy generator.
The new three storey 2,886m² facility will house classrooms and specialist training equipment in the field of advanced manufacturing and engineering including CAD computer design suites, 3D prototyping machines and large industrial scale metal-cutting CNC machines.
Included within the development will be a new Institute for Renewable Energy Technology, in partnership with international company RWE Renewables. A stand-out feature of the building will be a two storey high industrial scale wind turbine servicing and maintenance hall.
The new development will significantly enhance the Rhyl Campus and provide leaners in the region with the ability to learn and train on the latest technology in a state-of-the-art learning environment.
The design of the facility is being carried out to BIM level 2 with a target to achieve BREEAM Excellent rating and a Net-Zero annual energy usage.
