Caulmert Limited were commissioned to provide civil and structural engineering consultancy services for a new £7m school development on behalf of Purbrook High School in Portsmouth.
Caulmert secured the project through competitive tender, which incorporated a strong team of designers having previous knowledge and experience within the educational sector.
The scheme incorporated both new build and refurbishment of the existing school at Purbrook Park. In addition to the structural works, Caulmert also provided advise on the geotechnical and civil engineering elements, including drainage and infrastructure.
Following the sale of adjacent land, the school embarked on its new development including areas such as the main hall, teaching areas, laboratories, dining hall, technology areas, playing fields and sports MUGA.
The buildings on the site can be dated back to 1769, although teaching did not take place within the Purbrook Park County High School until 1924.
