Caulmert was commissioned to provide a range of structural engineering consultancy services on behalf of Stoke City (Property) Ltd for extensions to the existing training facilities at Clayton Wood.
The scheme involved the construction of a new first team player recovery and hydrotherapy room, gym extension, maintenance garage, with associated hardstanding, security lodge and training pitches.
As part of the scope of services offered, Caulmert was appointed to prepare a flood risk assessment and drainage strategy for the new training pitches, as well as civil and structural design services associated with the expansion of the main training building. development as well as the design services. Works to upgrade the training pitch facilities were supported through the provision of a design for surface water attenuation. The designed solution was to be installed beneath the pitch and was realised through close liaison with the pitch designer.
Improvements to the building included the need for the structural analysis of the existing structure to receive both the hydrotherapy pools and a new cardio gym area on the first floor. Additionally, 3D clash detection was carried out by Caulmert to ensure the integration of the plantroom and pool structures.
