Caulmert provided Civil and Structural Engineering design services on behalf of Wilmott Dixon Construction for a new £14m school development at Ysgol Glan Clwyd, St Asaph. The High School is located in North Wales at the foot of the Clwydian Hills.
The scheme involved the design of a new three storey building, whilst the existing listed building on the site was refurbished to retain its existing features whilst complimenting the new development.
Caulmert detailed the scheme using Revit 2015 and thus allowed the design team to review and detail the remaining building around the 3D model.
A number of existing buildings were demolished to make way for a new bus parking area and associated car parking requirements. The new three storey building located adjacent to the existing raised playing fields and the reduced dig spoil retained on site to improve the existing rugby pitches. Caulmert modelled the earthworks associated with this package to ensure the new levels were acceptable.
UPDATE: phase 1 is now complete. Check out this video as the pupils arrived for their first day in the new development.
