Caulmert are delighted to be providing Structural and Civil Engineering services on behalf of Solidagent Investment for this Student Residential project which has recently obtained planning permission. This development involves the erection of a 7 storey building, including basement level, to form 136 apartments along with a separate 2 storey underground car park to the rear. One of the key challenges to this development will be the successful installation of the piled retaining structures necessary to retain all 4 sides of this enclosed site. The work will entail excavating the site and building right up to the boundaries with the party wall and fence lines.
The underground car park will need groundwater control measures together with pumped drains, and the lower floor of the flats will need protection from flooding and drain surcharge. Other elements include underpinning of adjacent property, a sunken cycle storage area, boundary treatments, external works and creation of a new vehicular access from Hathersage Road. Designs are in place for all of these elements, and we are pressing ahead with the final approvals and coordination prior to construction.
